Popular skitmaker Isbae U faces alleged sex-for-skits scandal

Adebayo Ridwan Abidemi popularly known as BaeU Barbie, Isbae U or just BaeU by teeming fans, is under fire for allegedly demanding sex from ladies before featuring them in his skits.

On Sunday, Isbae U became a subject of discussion, topping social media trends especially on Twitter with over 10,000 tweets. A popular gossip mill on Instagram received and posted screenshots of evidence from the ladies who spoke about their various encounters with the skit maker.

Eastern Herald  cannot independently verify all of these claims as at time of report. The Instagram sensation, who is making waves in the entertainment industry with his very comic skits, started off his career in 2017.

He had his education at Igbogbi Secondary School, and bagged a National Diploma from Yaba College of Technology.

Checks by The Nation across his social media platforms especially Instagram, show that he was yet to respond to the allegations or comment on the matter as at time of report. But many Nigerians have taken to social media to react over the trending allegations.

They advised him to clear the air as regards the controversial allegations.

Reacting, Dami Adenuga @DAMIADENUGA said: “Bae U has been accused of inappropriate and unprofessional behaviour, he was accused of asking a woman to sleep with him before allowing her feature in his comedy skit.”

Razak Adeniyi @RazaqDesigner said: “He asked for sex to feature you in his skit. It’s your choice to agree or decline.”

@__izuchukwu argued: So bae u asks for sex in exchange for a role (haven’t seen any instances of rape) All these girls had two options: 1. Kindly refuse, 2. 2. Accept the terms, 3. Most of them accepted and now they’re blaming him for what exactly?

@letveeplay posited that: “They’re not blaming him, they are calling him out. Just as he can demand for sex from them, they can call him out on it too. It is not commendable that you chat up girls, offer to do a skit with them and then tell them they must sleep with him first. It is wrong.

@phamography_ said: “Listen, what Bae U did is absurd and morally wrong. I’m in no support of such. However, he hasn’t committed any crime.”

@drpenking said: “Imagine how Bae U girlfriend will feel about realizing that she is dating a video call preeq after probably boasting to all her friends that she got the best guy in the world, popular and all. May we not date somebody that will turn us into a National embarrassment”

@ireunusal advised: This Bae U and Mason Greenwood matter are synonymous, and its talking about the weakness of a man when it comes to “SEX” men should learn to control their urges, incase u never know, women can finish your career in life if u can’t control ur sexual urge as a man, Caution Kings!

Tina Turner, Jay-Z Among 2021 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Inductees, Fela Misses Out

Fela Anikulapo-Kuti has missed out on the bid to become an inductee of the 2021 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame where Tina Turner, Carole King, and Jay-Z made it.

Jay-Z, the Foo Fighters, The Go-Go’s, Carole King, Todd Rundgren, and Tina Turner are the newest inductees into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the organization announced Wednesday morning.

The hall said it’s 2021 class includes the “most diverse list of inductees in the history of the organization.” Three are two-time inductees.

Foo Fighters, The Go-Go’s, and Jay-Z were on the ballot for the first time this year.

Speaking of the new inductees, John Skyes, the Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, said: “This diverse class of talented Inductees reflects the Rock Hall’s ongoing commitment to honor artists whose music created the sound of youth culture. It will make for an unforgettable live celebration of music in October at this year’s Induction Ceremony in Cleveland.”

To be eligible for induction, artists have to have released their first record 25 years earlier and “have created music whose originality, impact and influence have changed the course of rock & roll,” according to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Foo Fighters, The Go-Go’s, and Jay-Z were on the ballot for the first time this year.

Musicians and groups who were nominated but not inducted were Mary J. Blige, Kate Bush, Devo, Iron Maiden, Chaka Khan, Fela Kuti, LL Cool J, New York Dolls, Rage Against the Machine, and Dionne Warwick.

Fela Kuti was first announced as a nominee for the award in February. Soon after the announcement, there was a huge push on social media to vote for the Nigerian music legend whose music much of the populace especially fans say is still relevant to date because of the social issues it addressed.

Massive support from celebrities like Davido, Burna Boy, Banky W, Don Jazzy, and other prominent voices gave the legend an early boost but the Turner fans gave it more from the results that were published by the hall.

If Fela had won, the multi-instrumentalist and Afrobeat legend would have made history as the first Nigerian artist in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

No Plans To Let Fela Win?

Fans took to social media to express their disappointment and displeasure in the situation despite having the second-highest votes and other inductees not coming close to his number of votes being inducted to the hall.

The chairman of Andoni Local Government Area in Rivers, Erastus Awortu, has reiterated his commitment to boost tourism potentials of the area.

He said this while unveiling the 2021 Andoni Carnival Week on Friday.

He added that the carnival intends to woo investors to tap into the rich economic potentials in the area.

The carnival tagged “Unity Carnival” is part of the move to demonstrate the level of peace and stability in the area and showcase the rich tourism and cultural heritage of the area’s people.

Mr Awortu noted that the Council has concluded plans to host a Unity Carnival as part of the celebration for the Yuletide season.

“We want to position Andoni to begin to benefit from tourism.

“Although the area is blessed with oil and gas, there is an urgent need for us to invest in tourism especially as our country strives towards enhancing economic diversification.

“When fully harnessed, tourism has the potentials of providing an alternative revenue for the nation and employment for our youths.

“Our large stretch of the rain forest is a natural habitat harbouring various species of wild cats, monkeys, snakes, antelopes, elephants, hippos and other rare animal species,” he said.

The council boss also noted that the area is richly endowed, as it has large sandy beaches with natural serenity.

“Fishermen in Andoni fishing settlements at various times have celebrated catches of exceptionally large size of fish including dolphins and swordfish.

“Indeed, our untapped exquisite wildlife and rich ocean reserve is a low-hanging fruit and springboard for investors,” the chairman said.

Responding, an official of the state ministry of Culture and Tourism, Ken Kovu, who represented the commissioner, lauded the chairman for the initiative that would consolidate the existing peace in Andoni.

The event was attended by dignitaries from different political parties, traditional rulers and other stakeholders.

ABBA halts promotion of new show after two die at tribute concert

Swedish pop sensation ABBA announced Wednesday that they were pausing promotion of an upcoming show for 24 hours after two died in a dramatic fall at a tribute concert.

The world-famous quartet is preparing to release a new album, “Voyage”, on Friday, 40 years after the group split up.

But on Tuesday night, an 80-year-old man fell seven storeys to his death at a concert hall in Uppsala in a presumed accident, killing another attendee.

The venue north of Swedish capital Stockholm was to host a tribute show for an audience of around 1,000 called “Thank you for the music”, honouring the works of Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson, the two male members of ABBA.

“In the light of the tragic news at the tribute concert in Sweden last night, we have decided to hold off on releasing our concert trailer until tomorrow,” a post from the ABBA Voyage Twitter account said.

In addition to the release of its new album announced in early September, the Swedish cult band is currently building a venue in London that will host a show which includes digitised “avatars” of the four band members, scheduled for May 2022.

The exact form of these avatars, designed by a special effects company that worked on the Star Wars films, is still shrouded in mystery, but the band insists that they will not be mere holograms.

The “ABBAtars” will represent Agnetha Faltskog, Bjorn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad as they looked in 1979.
