“‘STOP THIS WAR DRUM, WE WILL NOT FOLD OUR HANDS AND WATCH YOU AND YOUR CO-TRAVELLERS DESTROY RIVERS STATE THE SECOND TIME ‘”

Fellow Rivers people,

Our attention has been drawn to a statement made by on Mr. Bright Amaewhule, the GDI President General, where he criticized the healthy and non-political airport reception of Gov. Siminalayi Fubara GSSRS, by enthusiastic Rivers people, whose outpouring of love and prayers for the governor have been second to none during the governor’s suspension travails.

Frankly speaking, Mr. Bright Amaewhule as expected is one of those that lined their pockets with spoils of the recent crises in the State and smiled to bank, therefore, the return of peace is against his economic gains of wars and crises. He had demonstrated it by his condemnation outburst of Gov. Fubara’s airport informal reception by Rivers people, which pokes war and crisis.

Would it not have been very strange that Gov. Fubara who endured a 6 month illegal suspension by powers that be, came back to resume duties at its expiration without anybody to say welcome – in Mr. Bright Amaewhule’s thoughts, he posited a scenario where the Governor would have sneaked into the State without notice and resumed duties without even his family people awaiting to say welcome – too bad for Bright Amaewhule indeed and very unfortunate that Bright Amaewhule and co, would have made a cheap political point of Gov Fubara’s unpopularity if the unprecedented mammoth crowd that greeted and heralded his historic entry into the State and appearance at the Brick House as governor did not happen.

They’re still not done with the fact that Fubara is Governor for the masses of Rivers State not for the elite and self arrogated power broker of Rivers politics. Gov Fubara remains Rivers governor and Rivers people are at liberty to welcome him and celebrate his return to good governance after an unfortunate episode of strange and unconstitutional suspension from office of a democratically elected governor by a democratically elected President – it was an aberration of the worse order which is now put behind by the Governor and the good people of Rivers State for the sake of peace and Mr Bright Amaewhule should be schooled to understand this even though it pains him and his group because their economic gains from wars and crises have abruptly stopped.

Gov Fubara upon suspension, left over N270b in Rivers treasury and six months after, Rivers state, excluding IGR, received over N450b from the federation account and all this funds had gone without any tangible people oriented projects, and this happened under the watch, control and supervision of the Sole Administrator and those who made his appointment possible alongside those who appointed him. This is why Mr Bright Amaewhule and his distraught group cannot be happy for the return of peace to the State and the return of Gov. Fubara to continue with his widely acclaimed good governance.

Mr Bright Amaewhule and all his CO-TRAVELLERS remained put and indifferent to Gov. Fubara’s return to power but Rivers people said no; we own the Governor and the State belongs to us, therefore we shall go and receive the Governor at the airport even when obviously Gov Fubara never formally arranged for his reception by any group.

Fellow Rivers people, my candid opinion is for us to allow peace to reign and to allow governor Fubara execute and consolidate on all his selfless developmental plans and good governance for Rivers people, therefore nobody should take serious the mercantile disgruntled group Bright Amaewhule represents and their talks because they’re the group that fed fat on Rivers crises and therefore remain disdainful for the crises time to become over as it were presently.

We have keyed into the new found peace and will never make any inflammatory statements that would suggest otherwise and I hereby call on all groups on both sides to come together and support Gov. Fubara and this act serves as our own contribution towards the growth of our dear State. Peace is priceless and peace is here with us and every Rivers man and woman is indeed truly happy for Gov. Fubara and for the peace he needs to excel in his duties.

Thank you.

Hon. Warigbani Ezekiel Zebulun
Former Governorship Candidate
2019 Rivers State.
