The Dynamic Development Club of Port Harcourt has flagged off a Micro Small Medium Enterprises Empowerment Scheme, in Port Harcourt, that saw five beneficiaries, going home with different sums of money, to further boast their businesses.

The Dynamic Development Club used the occasion of it’s 2024 End of Year Meeting/Party to initiate the scheme.

The event which was filled with pagentry and fun, attracted both members of the club and members of the public.

In his welcome address, the club President, Barr Uncle Wabara, noted that the clubs hosts eleven meetings in a year and uses the twelfth meeting as it’s end of the year party, to host members and give thanks to the Almighty God, for a successful year.

Barr. Uncle Wabara noted that the economic challenges in the country has accentuated, which necessitated the decision of the club, to initiate the Micro Small Medium Enterprises Empowerment Scheme, as a means of shoring up small businesses, from the vagaries of the economic downturn and I fusing new life into the businesses.

In his opening prayer, a patron of the club and Father of the Day, Eze Sir R A. Wabara, the Traditional Prime Minister of Nkpor kingdom, thanked God for keeping members of the Dynamic Development Club hale and hearty and prayed for a successful end of the year party.

 

Other dignitaries who graced the occasion included, Hon. Dr. Sampson Wabara, Chairman Nkpor Progressive Organisation.

Hon. Nwennenda, Vice President, Dynamic Club and Sir Reginald Akinanwo, Secretary. Others are Vincent Wabara, an Elder of the club, Engr Dr. Herbert Okechukwu, chairman board of trustees and Chief Promise Igwe, as Special Guest.

A key highlight of the occasion was the emergence of Mr. Austin Ogbonda as the
Winner of the best member of the year.

The club President, Barr. Uncle Wabara, commended Austin Ogbonda for his examplery service and dedicated membership and presented him with a gift of a live Chicken, as a token of encouragement.

The chairman of the Board of Trustees, Engr Dr. Herbert Okechukwu, while briefing the gathering in the Micro Small Medium Enterprise Scheme, noted that the Dynamic Club, was moved to tackle the question, “Why does MSME’s not grow in Nigeria”.

He noted that in seeking answers to the poser, the club decided to Initiate a move that will nuture small enterprise into big businesses. He disclosed that the club rolled out the program to encourage members to grow in businesses and also identify small business in the society that needs encouragement. He disclosed that there was no contribution from the government or companies and that the funds for the scheme was sourced from membership contributions.

Engr. Okechukwu announced that the first batch coverered five persons, who were chosen based on their ability to convert little resources into major capital.

Engr. Okechukwu disclosed that in addition to making funds available, the Dynamic Club, will provide, 1) Business growth advisory services; 2) Quality management advisory services; 3) Customer satisfactions processes and surveys; 4) Further finance opportunities

He noted that the Terms of the grant include:
1) Key performance indicators (Monitor if the business is growing + Undertaken to refund the money if the money is not utilized for the meant puroose + If success is recorded more funds will be invested); 2) Credible guarantor and 3) Periodic monitoring.

The first batch of recipients of the Micro Small Medium Enterprise Scheme, included

1) Godwin Joy Uchechi, who deals on Phone/ Mobile devices. She received a grant of Two Hundred Thousand Naira (200,000).
2) Ocha Chinyere Preye, who deals on Food items. She received a grant of Three Hundred Thousand Naira, ( 300,000).
3) Favour Wobo, who is into Baking and catering services. She received a grant of Three Hundred Thousand Naira (300,000)
4) Chinoru Chinyere Amadi, who deals on Clothing Materials. She received a grant of Three Hundred Thousand Naira (300,000)
5) Henry Orlunda, who is into the hospitality business. He received a grant of Five Hundred Thousand Naira (500,000)
6) Action Club of Rumuekini, an entertainment and musical group. They received a grant of Five Hundred Thousand Naira (500,000) to support their music business.

Major highlights of the occasion included cultural displays and lavish entertainment.
