Following rate of hardship faced by Nigerians as a result of the removal of fuel subsidy by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s led federal government, the government said it has initiated various empowerment programs to cushion the effects of subsidy removal on the citizenry.
The minister of information and national orientation, Mohammed Idris stated this in port Harcourt at a one day sensitization workshop organized by the federal ministry of information and national orientation, with the theme: ” sensitizing the citizenry on federal government intervention programs at the state and local government levels”.
Presenting the address on behalf of the minister of information and national orientation Mohammed Idris, the Head of centre , port Harcourt,Mr. Gabriel Obokuru said that the sensitization program was to elucidate federal government commitment to cushion the effects of the subsidy removal by initiating programs that would enhance the living conditions of Nigerians.
According to him, the federal government knows the challenges faced by Nigerians, positing that it is diving into discussions that can inspire and proffer solutions to the plight of the citizenry.
He opined that the federal government have a fantastic lineup planned keynote speeches from the speaker and other participants to share ideas and thoughts.
He added that the event was not just listening, but keying in to the programme and policies that are before Nigerians, that are initiated by the federal government, while urging all and Sundry to make use of the opportunity by making a choice of any package of the programs .
Earlier, chairman of the event and Deputy Registrar, federal ministry of information and national orientation, Mr. Ernest Ere said that following the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President, the federal government has put a lot of programs in place to alleviate the sufferings of the people.
He said that among the available programs initiated by federal government for Nigerians include, empowering young Nigerians between the ages of 18 and above, providing succour for the masses due to the removal of fuel subsidy, provision of sustainable housing for Nigerians through the federal housing authority among others.
Meanwhile the keynote speaker, Ms Chika Elesi enumerated various empowerment programs initiated by the federal government to cushion the effects of subsidy removal on Nigerians and enjoined all and Sundry to make use of the opportunities offered by federal government.
High point of the event was an interaction between the participants and and the organizers of the workshop on the empowerment programs initiated by the federal government to alleviate the sufferings of the masses.
