The Rivers state All progressive congress APC has vowed to participate for the October 5,2024 Local Government council elections.
The resolution was reached at the All progressive congress stakeholders meeting held at party secretariat, along Aba/ Port Harcourt expressed way.
Speaking at the well attended Apc stakeholders meeting on August 21,2024, State Chairman of the All progressive congress, Chief Hon. Tony Okocha said that his party, the All progressive congress will not be part of the October 5,2024, Local Government council elections.
Okocha said that APC is in court and hence would not be part of the election, pointing out that most importantly, the APC was not communicated with and wondered how it would contest the local government election.
According to Hon., the local government election will not work, noting that even the people’s Democratic party PDP is not in the picture to be part of the election.
The Rivers state Apc caretaker Committee chairman, opined that the All progressive congress has quality candidates that would contest the election and win, regretting that the election would not represent the interest of those who will vote.
Okocha who doubles as the leader of the All progressive congress in the state claimed that the day meeting was held in the state by various political parties,Apc was not invited to the meeting and wondered how Apc can be part of an election that they were not briefed.
Okocha alleged that the results of the local government council elections have already been written in favours of the people’s Democratic party PDP.
He asserts that on expiration of his caretaker Committee tenureship, the National Working Committee ( NWC) extended their tenure till December 15,2024, even as he posited that history was made on August 13,2024 in RIvers state where Apc supporters came out in large numbers for the Apc road work, adding that the turnout was unprecedented and worthy of commending all the participants for the APC road work.
Meanwhile, in a motion moved by some critical Apc stakeholders like, Senator Wilson Ake, former Apc state caretaker Committee chairman, Hon. Ojukaye Flag Amacree, Barr. Worgu Boms , and supported by Elder Rt Hon. Sampson Egop, Prof.J C Emedi and Elder Hon. Chidi wihioka affirmed Tony Okocha led Caretaker Committee to continue based on his good leadership qualities and transformation of the All progressive congress, even as they also passed a vote of confidence on president Bola Ahmed Tinubu’sRenewed Hope Agenda, Senate President, Senator Gods will Akpabio and the FCT Minister, Chief Barr Ezenwo Nyesom Wike for giving Rivers sons and daughters sense of belonging in Abuja, adding that Emeka Beke is never recognized by the Apc National Working Committee and therefore, he should go and rest,
They insists that Hon. Tony Okocha’s -led Caretaker Committee remain the only authentic and recognized caretaker Committee of the All progressive congress as endorsed by the Nationa working committee of the Apc.
