The Rivers State Representative on the NDDC Governing Board, Chief Hon Tony Okocha, on Tuesday, the 30th July,2024, embarked on an inspection tour to some of the NDDC project sites in Umuechem, Etche Local Government Area, Soku, in Akuku-Toru, Ndele, Emohua Local Government and Nkpolu Community as well as NTA/ Apara link Road respectively.
Hon. Okocha while addressing the media team at the Community Secondary School, Umuechem on inspection of an ongoing project and ground breaking of the second unit of the semi- Detached Two – Bedroom Apartment Teacher’s Quarters, expressed satisfaction with Umuechem Community for their support and cooperation with the contractors handling the project, adding that their encouragement facilitated the speedy progress of the work.
He said that the people should support president Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda that has brought the project in their community, while advising the youths in the area against participating in the nationwide protest.
In their responses, Paramount Ruler/ Ochimbam of Umuechem Community, H.R.H, Eze, Sampson Emu and CDC Chairman, Thank God Agbam thanked the 7th Governing Board of the Nddc for finding Umuechem Community worthy of the project, saying that there has not been government project sited in the area, despite the fact that the community has about 53 oil wells and appealed to Tony Okocha to fence the community school premises to avoid vandalizing the project.
Similarly, Okocha also inspected the constitution of 10 Bedroom Corpers Lodge project with recreational facilities,sited at the Ignatius Ajuru university of Education, Ndele Campus, in Emohua Local Government Area, shortly after Chief Tony was received at the palace of the Nne – Nwe Eli/ Paramount Ruler of Rundele Community, H.R.H, Eze Barr. Damian Ejiowhor who expressed satisfaction with Hon. Tony Okocha for constructing Corpers Lodge at Ndele Campus of Ignatius Ajuru university for the comfort of the NYSC members that will be posted to the community for their primary assignment.
The Rivers Nddc Representative also inspected the Emergency Construction of 10,000 Gallons capacity solar – powered water project at Kula Community,in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area.
Okacha said that the solar powered water project in Soku Community would be reticulated to all the nooks and crannies of the community. He regretted that Soku Community was hit by cholera outbreak in which the Nddc intervened through the office of the Rivers Nddc representative on the governing board.
Okocha asserts that from the reports and analysis of the water samples from Soku by the World Health Organization ( WHO) and thus he promised the people good drinking which Nddc has redeemed it’s promise for Soku Community to end what he described as perennial cases of outbreak of cholera which the people had suffered since 1971.
In the same vein, Tony equally visited Degema Local Government Secretariat, where he inspected the 1,300 seater pavilion project on construction sited in the secretariat.
Other Nddc project sites visited and inspected by Tony Okocha and the Renewal Hope team include, the construction of Nkpolu Community Town Hall project and Reconstruction of NTA / Apara Link Road/ Drainage project in Obio/ Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers state.
Meanwhile, Tony Okocha used the opportunity of inspecting the Nddc projects across the various Local Government Areas of Rivers state to canvass for support for president Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, even as he opined that Mr. President feels the pain and hardship of the people, which he, Okocha posited that president Bola Ahmed is fixing with different programs and policies that would benefit Nigerians, such as the distribution of palliatives, increments of the minimum wage from 30- 70,000, loan scheme for students, massive investment in Agriculture across the country and allocation of more funds to the 36 states and 774 Local Government Areas for more Development projects.
He warned against the planned nationwide protest and advised those behind the protest to articulate their views,engage with Government before action
