One of the fastest growing and most popular Pentecostal churches in Nigeria, with the Headquarters in Rivers state, known as Gateway international church, has said that it would not relent to be supportive to the widows and singles, especially members of gateway international church.
Speaking while presenting food items and cash worths millions of naira to some categorized beneficiaries who are members of the church, lead pastor of Gateway international church, Pastor George Izunwa said that the food items and the cash gateway church is giving to it’s members are mainly for the widows, single mothers and business men and women whose businesses went down due to one reason or the other.
Pastor George Izunwa who was represented by one of the senior pastors in gateway international church, pastor Joseph Ajueshi, who made the presentation on behalf of the lead pastor George Izunwa said that what was provided to the beneficiaries came from God to assist and support the widows, single mothers and business men and women whose businesses collapsed.
According to him, it was the gateway international church benevolent department who are in charge of reaching to church members who are not handy or rich enough to cater for their needs.
He said that the benevolent is a monthly program put together by the benevolent department of gateway international church to help the less privileged to cushion the effects of the the present economic hardship.
He maintained that what the church is giving is just a token, pointing out that at least it could take care of immediate need at that particular time.
Pastor Ajueshi opined that the case which the church gave to those in business can help them rise again if only they can judiciously utilize the money to them to start up something again.
He said that the benevolence runs in to categories of widows/ singles mothers as well as business men and women , pointing out that next month, and batch would be provided with cash and food items in categories as well.
Expressing appreciation, one of the beneficiaries, Hope Kinika thanked gateway international church for remembering them for church benevolence.
Hope said that she did not meet anybody to write her name as one of the beneficiaries, pointing out that as she came to church , one of the ushers ask her to sit on the front roll and that she was among those recommended for benevolence.
She prayed God to continue to bless the lead pastor George Izunwa who approved the funds for the benevolence.
In their separate speeches, Glory Egbetale, Maria Godwin,Boma Georgewill, Chinonye okpala , described gateway international church as unique and friendly church that have compassion on its members even as they enjoined other churches to emulate what gateway international church is doing to alleviate the suffering of the less privileged who are members of the church.
They prayed God to bless Lead pastor George Izunwa and family as well as more growth of the church.
Meanwhile, over 50 persons comprising of the widows, single mothers and business men and women benefited from the benevolence.
