A former Law Maker in Rivers State and a former Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt.Hon. Evans Bipi has dismissed a recent amendment of the law on the tenure of local government chairmen in River’s state as irrelevant and not In accordance with the laws of the Federal republic of Nigeria.
Hon. Evans Bipi made the declaration while addressing a cross section of journalists during a thanksgiving service organized by Former State Political Party Chairmen and Gubernatorial Candidates Forum, Rivers State, at All Saints Cathedral of the Anglican Communion, Nigeria, Rumuokwurusi, in Obio Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Hon. Evans Bipi who represented the Rivers State governor, Sir. Siminilaye Fubara, said that the so-called law makers cannot be said to have properly held any legislative proceedings when they sit under canopies and with a court order declaring theirs seat vacant.
Hon. Bipi dismissed the law makers as unserious as all they have wasted their time and tax payers’ money in doing is to just gather and amend laws without conceiving and deliberating on any new law since they assumed office before, they were sacked by a competent court of law.
In his response to a critic of the thanksgiving services being organized by the SIMPLIFIED Movement, a support group of the Rivers State governor, the Caretaker Chairmen of the All-Progressives Party (APDA) in Rivers, Chief Tony Okocha, Hon. Evans Bipi who is the Director General of the SIMPLIFIED MOVEMENT declared that some of the unguided critics of the Rivers State governor are qualified residents of the Rivers State Psychiatric Hospital which is currently undergoing renovation.
He wondered why any reasonable person can come out to say that thanksgiving services organized by well-meaning individuals who are desirous of peace and progress are being sponsored by the state government. Hon. Bipi who dismissed the claim by Tony Okocha as a wicked rumor born out of idleness and mischief.
