PH Supermarket Owner Cries Out to Gov. Wike, Over Demolition of His Property Despite Court Order.

A supermarket Owner in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, has called on the state governor Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike and other well-meaning persons, especially the security agencies and human rights organisations, to wade into his travails, insisting that his property as well as his life is under threat. The young man who identified himself as Matthew Ekpobari, said in a tear soaked voice message to our correspondent, said he rented a shop at number 19 Takoradi Street, behind Radio Rivers, in Port Harcourt township. According to him, “The caretaker of the property he rented told him to  ahead and do the renovation work on the property, which was in a bad shape asat the time, he rented it. The only caveat was that they should not owe rent too long and that the landlord  don’t have problem  with an agreement, that he will continue to renew the rent”.

With such assurances, Matthew Ekpobari went to the Bank where he collected loans to renovate the place only for the owners of the place to inform him after spending millions to renovate, that the place has been sold to a popular clergyman based in the state. He said at first he was apprehensive, but the caretaker of the property continued assuring him that his rent will be renewed.

Mr. Matthew said he was surprised that some persons came to the property and told him to pack because it has been purchased by another person. Considering the investments he had put in place, he decided to take up the matter, and approached the law court through his lawyer.

He averred that the court posted a notice of stay of execution on the said property, but suddenly out of nowhere, one Ezekiel supposedly from the buyer, came with persons from nowhere and tore the court notice claiming that no court can prevent him from destroying the property to make way for the owner to take over the property.

He equally reported the matter to the police at the Central Police Station,  CPS,  who at first showed interest but has since fizzled out.

He said the said Ezekiel has assured him that he will be coming to the property by Sunday 6th November to destroy the supermarket with items worth over 30 million naira.

In a desperate bid to stop the destruction, despite a subsisting court order and debts borrowed to put up the place, he is crying to the court of public opinion so they can draw the attention of those in power to come to his assistance.

“I have nothing on me. These people are so powerful that they want to deal with me, not minding the fact that the matter has not been resolved. Please my governor, the state commissioner of police and other persons should come to my aid in preventing this grave disaster” he said with tears.
